HLP:COSTS.HLP (1 page)
The COSTS program types out a cost summary and breakdown by shift
and connect time, runtime, kilocore-seconds (kiloword-seconds), and
disk I/O. Data from the beginning of the month thru yesterday can be
used, or yesterday only can be accessed. On-line disk storage and
printing costs are also given. To run the program type:
R COSTS
There are some peculiarities in the numbers given. These arise
from the fact that the information given was created mainly for the
purpose of giving an accurate cost. Connect time is an example. Some
users elect to pay a flat fee ($175/mo.) in place of the hourly rate.
Their connect time is given as some fraction of their actual connect
time.
Non-profit and commercial usage figures are correctly given, and
their multipliers are used only when calculating their costs.
There are some items that are charged only at the end of the
month. These are: file restores, Calcomp plotter use, paper tape
reading, refunds, off-line disk storage, off-line disk mounts and use,
tape mounts and use, purchases of manuals and tapes, contract
services, leased and multiplexed lines, changes to communication lines,
and royalties.
